So if you want to race a spectacular half Ironman triathlon sign up for Shane Hooks Rotorua Half Ironman in 2011, his event is fantastic! Rotorua must be one of the most scenic places to visit and race a triathlon, probably why Lance is coming to race in January.
Although the weather wasn't fantastic, well for the volunteers and spectators so a big thanks to there help and support, it was good racing conditions for the athletes!
Starting at 6:25am helped keep the lake flat as a pancake with a great opportunity to get a fast start to the day which was the number one goal. Exiting the swim I had a handy 4min lead and set off on the out and back cycle leg.
Passing numerous lakes and climbing some challenging hills, a a bit of wind thrown in made it for a tough ride, it was great to see drafting at a minimum and every one enjoying the course. My ride was great with no dramas which I seemed to always have had in the past. Building my lead to around 15mins hitting the run was reassuring in that I could control my run and finish fresh and happy with a complete performance today.
Next up is Tauranga Half Ironman in January!

Well done GOG, You coming to race Cairns June next year as i heartds going to be a massive race with great money on offer.
