With a little under two weeks to the Nuomea International Triathlon I am jumping out of my skin to race again.
Six weeks ago I was questioning myself, thinking it is going to take forever to get back the form I was in after Tauranga, well it’s amazing what the mind and body can achieve. From struggling to complete a 90min run, to banging out 150mins of hills piece of cake is a nice indicator that I am getting back the strength and fitness I had in January. All I want to do now is put it to good use, race, and race hard.
Nuomea is perfect timing for my main event Challenge Cairns in June. It offers a tough bike course and similar weather conditions to what I will be expecting in Cairns. While it’s only an Olympic distance event on the 8th of May, it still gives me the chance to practice transitions / nutrition / pacing etc. in race conditions, something which is difficult to simulate properly in training.
My coach, Keegan Williams will also be using the event as a hit out before Ironman Brazil in 5 weeks. We have been training together a lot over the past month so expect us to be ripping it up on the roads of Nuomea J
Will keep you posted!
Graham
